Proposing on Lake Como, from the water

Ask for the private sunset slot early, and put the occasion in the booking note. Around €500 for two hours, with spritz and prosecco on board.

The view forward over the varnished mahogany foredeck of a classic motorboat, past the windscreen to a lakeside village and mountains in low, warm light.

Ask for the private sunset slot as soon as your date is fixed, and write the proposal into the same message. Two hours at sunset are around €500 for the boat, with spritz and prosecco on board.

Why the sunset slot

On the published list, two sunset hours cost €500 where two daytime hours cost €470, and the higher figure brings the spritz and the prosecco. The sunset is its own two-hour trip, and I tell you when the boat leaves. The price is for the boat, up to six people, and the month does not change it. The rest of the list is in what a day on the water costs, and the two hours themselves on the private sunset page.

How far ahead

Earlier than for an ordinary afternoon, because your date is the one thing you cannot move. Sunsets are the hardest hours to get at short notice, so write to me on the day you know the date. Every notice period is in how far ahead you need to book.

What to put in the note

Write it in the message with the date: photographs, the engine off at a signal, or a surprise to keep from the other person. Proposals do come up in the notes people send with a booking. I answer long before the day, not at the dock.

Where the evening starts

Collected at your hotel, the evening starts where you are staying. Being picked up at your hotel dock explains when that is free.

If the evening is called off

The skipper decides whether the evening runs. If he calls it off, I move you to another day or hour at no charge. If the new one does not work, you get the money back in full. What the deposit does is in how you pay, and the rest in what happens if the weather turns.

Common questions

For a sunset trip, is it better to start at 5 or at 6?

Neither: tell me the date, and I tell you when the boat leaves for the sunset. It is its own two-hour trip, around €500, with spritz and prosecco on board.

Will the skipper take photographs, or cut the engine when we ask?

Put it in the note that carries the date, and I answer long before the day. The frame around it is fixed: the boat is yours for the two hours, up to six people. Time can be added on the spot when the skipper is free after you.

Is there any chance of a sunset slot tomorrow evening?

Sometimes, so write anyway: I usually answer within minutes during the Italian day. For a proposal, write as soon as the date is fixed: sunset is among the hardest hours to get at short notice.

Can the boat collect us at the hotel for the proposal?

Yes, if your hotel has a dock the boat can use. Name the hotel in your note, and I check its pier and what it costs.

What I know here was checked in September 2026.
