How long you need on a Lake Como boat
Private boats here run from one hour to six. One hour has no stop at all, and a lunch ashore takes a five- or six-hour day.

My three days are two, four and six hours, priced for the boat. See the half day →
The short answer
One hour is continuous navigation with no stop, and a day with lunch ashore takes five or six hours. In between, it depends on the stops you want, because every stop comes out of the hours you book.
What one hour gets you
The boat keeps moving for the whole hour, and you see the nearby sights from the water, at boat speed. The hour does not include getting off, swimming, or waiting while you visit anything.
What the hours cost
On my boats, one hour is €250 and six hours are €1,250. The price is per boat, so it does not move with how many of you there are. The full table is in the observed prices.
Stops come out of the hours
A stop is bought with time, not added on top of it. The same four hours make two different days, depending on whether anyone gets off the boat. Lunch ashore belongs to the five- and six-hour days, and the restaurant bill is yours. How a lunch stop works shows how much of the day goes on the table.
I have not timed a swim or a lunch stop from the boat. Tell me the stops you want and the dock you leave from, and I work out the hours around them. The four-hour day has its own page: what the half day holds.

Common questions
Is there a 30-minute tour option?
No: the shortest private trip on the published lists is one hour, and that hour keeps moving, with no stop.
Is two hours enough, and does the price change with the number of people?
The price is per boat, whatever the head count. Whether two hours is enough depends on the dock you leave from, because that decides how much of the time goes on the transfer. Tell me where you are staying and what you want to see, and I tell you.
Can we do a stop in the 3-hour tour?
Tell me the stop you want and the dock you leave from, and I tell you whether it fits in three hours.
What if we want to stay out longer once we are there?
Sometimes. Hours can be added on the spot if the skipper is free after you. If you think you will want them, say so with the date.
